With overflowing gratitude to God, we announce the home going of our precious husband, father and grandfather, Edward Selin, on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 from complications of congestive heart failure. Dad was born on December 1, 1927 to John and Hilda Selin in Seattle, Washington.
He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1945 and then entered the US Navy, but also attended Yale University in his freshman year of college and later the University of Washington. He married his true love, Barbara Halone in 1950, and being blessed with more than 59 years of marriage, they had six children, twenty-eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Dad's career was in the sales of commercial building materials, an area in which he found much success and thoroughly enjoyed and built a reputation as being a man of honor and honesty. He also was known for his wonderful sense of humor, his intelligence, his patriotism and his tender concern for people. He was a lifelong member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church where he served for many years as chairman of the board. He loved to spend time with his family at his retreat on Samish Island. His whole life revolved around caring for and loving his family, and he and mom were always known for their devotion to each other and to their Lord Jesus Christ.
He has left behind his loving wife and family and many dear friends, but also treasured memories and the lasting legacy of his selfless example and sacrificial love. While we grieve his passing, we know he is in heaven and are so very grateful for having been forever blessed by knowing him.
Our deepest thanks to Dr. William Getchell and staff at Eastside Cardiology, the Eastside Urology group and numerous other caretakers for their excellent care.
