Eufrecino “Efren” Escarez was born in Pola, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines on January 1st, 1933 to Ireneo and Florencia. He was reunited with his wife, Leonarda Escarez, and their daughter, Ma. Emmylou Escarez, on Sunday, September 15, 2019.
Eufrecino was the first of the brood and blazed the trail for his siblings. He did not finish college but rose up the ranks to be a superintendent in the electrical construction industry in the Philippines. Trusted by the proprietor and clients alike, he left his mark on many substations and industrial plants in Manila and the surrounding provinces. He helped many friends and family obtain jobs that allowed them to get started toward successful lives of their own. After leaving the construction industry, he dedicated his life to taking care of the family farm in his hometown of Pola and took on fishing for a living.
Eufrecino later moved to Seattle, Washington with son Eugene. Here he worked in the seafood industry and enjoyed recreational fishing with his family and friends. They frequented their favorite fishing spots at Ocean Shores, Kalaloch, Discovery Bay, and the piers at Elliott Bay and Shilshole Bay.
Eufrecino loved to read non-fiction books and his favorite magazines The Readers Digest, Time, and the National Geographic. He was a tinkerer and was a handyman of all trades.
Eufrecino was predeceased by his loving wife of 25 years, Leonarda, and their daughter, Emmylou. He is survived by son Efren and wife Minerva, son Eugene and wife Sharon, son-in-law Eric, grandson Efraim, and granddaughters Elise, Michaela, and Elleen. In addition, he is survived by his ten siblings and their families.
