Eugene graduated from Cleveland High School and played double bass in the Youth Symphony Orchestra.
A lifelong resident of Capitol Hill and employee of The Seattle Public Library, he could be seen walking to and from the Central Library.
In his spare time, he loved attending live theatre and listening to music—classical, country, the Great American Songbook, and jazz.
As a big brother, he introduced his little sister to a magical nighttime display of shooting stars, short stories of Greek mythology and Ray Bradbury, Peanuts and Winnie-the-Pooh, Al Kooper and Beethoven’s piano sonatas, Chaka Khan singing jazz and Carmina Burana.
He was frugal, yet lived a generous life. He was a 100-pint donor, gave freely to charities and Seattle theatre companies, and, in death, gave the gift of sight.
Eugene was preceded in death by his father, George, his mother, Bessie, and his brother, Kenneth. He is survived by his sister Arlene, sister-in-law Marcia, niece Megan, nephews David, Jared, and Aaron, and many cousins.
Donations in Eugene’s name may be made to ArtsFund, 100 W Harrison St, Suite S150, Seattle, WA 98119.
