My father was a gentle, loving, and hard-working family man who spoke more from his actions than his words.  He was not a complainer even when faced with physical problems related to prostate cancer.  Dad demonstrated great courage and was a wonderful example to all of us.  Toward the end, he comforted us and was at peace -- because he was certain he was going to heaven due to his faith in Jesus Christ.

The family appreciates all who lovingly cared for him at Swedish Medical Center First Hill and Ballard, Seattle Keiro Nursing Home, Harborview Medical Center, and at various doctors' offices.  We also appreciate all who provided spiritual sustenance to him and the family through prayer and the sharing of God's Word.

Dad, I love you.  You enriched my life in innumerable ways.  I look forward to seeing you again in Paradise.

I was honored to provide occupational therapy to Mr.Eng while he was at Swedish in Ballard. Eyes closed,seeming asleep, he would rouse to my pestering questions about his life, and chatter about daughter Tina, my former classmate and dear friend.
   Like most patients, he wanted a pretty good reason to use the little energy he had. Mr. Eng's motivation for doing his best, getting up from his warm bed, washing and changing out of our dreadful hospital clothes, came from the anticipation of visits from Sharon, Debbie, his lively wife, Marion, and gentle Tina.
  I was inspired by this man and his family and the love and support they offered to him and each other. I was inspired to see Mr. Eng spontaneously fold his hands in prayer with Tina's Pastor, when he hadn't even the energy to open his eyes. 
   I regret that I didn't know this lovely, loving man in his prime.
  To his family in their sorrow I offer words that have given me comfort in the past: "The same Everlasting Father who cares for you today will take care of you tomorrow and every day.  Either he will shield you from suffering, or he will give you the strength to bear it.  Be at peace, then, and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations." author unknown.
  I regret that I was not able to attend the Visitation, and I am unable to attend the Memorial today. Thank you for your kind words on the phone, dear Tina. Take care.

Uncle Fong, in my memory, was very kind, jolly, and hospitable toward me and our family.  I can remember in my younger days, our families exchanging gifts at Christmas time and spending time with one another for whatever reason or occasion.  We seemed to kind of grow up together both in and outside of church ...  after all, there were four of us boys and Uncle Fong and Auntie Marion had four lovely girls!  In these last several years, I always enjoyed seeing Uncle Fong and Auntie Marion at church too, sharing  greetings and shaking their hands.  

Today's memorial service for Uncle Fong was so uplifting and God honoring.  The peaceful gentle look on his face reflected the peace and joy and hope which permeated the entire service.  I praise God so very much for Uncle Fong's strong finish in his sojourn here in this world.  The testimonies of God's mercy and grace in his life was powerful, encouraging and clear.  The warm loving invitation to all in attendence to believe in and accept the Lord Jesus was both timely and effective.  I want to finish strong like Uncle Fong and look forward to eternal life with my Lord Jesus Christ, my God.

The Lord bless you, Auntie Marion, Tina, Sharon, Debbie & Gordon with His strength, peace and abiding presence, during this time of loss ... , but homecoming for Uncle Fong.

I only knew of your husband and father through Tina at work.  I know from Tina that he was a kind and loving man who held his family most dear.
