Our heavenly Father called Gayle Ann Scheele home on February 24, 2023, in Seattle, Washington. Born in Spokane, Washington on April 21, 1964, to Gerald and Marjean Scheele, she grew up on the family farm in Fairfield. Gayle attended Fairfield Elementary and Liberty High School graduating in 1982. After receiving a BA in Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, in 1987, she remained in the King County area for the rest of her life residing on Lake Washington, Issaquah, and West Seattle. She was awarded an MBA from City University in the mid90s. A diligent and dedicated accountant, her career encompassed employment by various commercial and residential property management companies in Bellevue and Seattle.
Gayle studied piano throughout her school years even playing organ on a couple of occasions at her home church, Fairfield Zion Lutheran, but it was not her forte. She enjoyed summers boating, water skiing, and attending camps at Lutherhaven on Lake Coeur D’Alene. She loved to travel starting with family Christmas trips to Hawaii, and Mexico. Lake Tahoe and a Caribbean cruise. Later, she and her mother traveled several times to France plus Greece, Italy, England, New York City, Washington DC, and Ashland Oregon for the Shakespearean festivals. Touring the Normandy Beaches on the 70th anniversary of DDay “JJour” was somber but momentous.
At home on California Ave (“North of Admiral,” as she always stated). Gayle loved hiking down to Alki Beach with a stop at the French Sister City Park along the way. She was fond of most things French. Her home cooking, utensils, wall hangings, knick-knacks, and dishes attest to that. Watching the fireworks from the Space Needle through her condominium windows each New Year was a fantastic treat. She was a voracious reader and had an appreciation for movies and live theater, too. A self-proclaimed Geek, she had an affinity for supernatural and reality adventure documentaries. Like other Seattleites, Gayle was a fan of the Mariners and Sounders. Storm, Kraken, and, of course, the Seahawks. She was always able to contribute accurate answers to questions that fell in her areas of interest when visiting her mother’s trivia team nights in Arizona.
Gayle is survived by her parents Marjean Scheele of Sun Lakes, Arizona, and Gerald Scheele of Spokane Valley, Washington; a brother, Mark, Lynnwood, Washington; two Uncles, Dan Lawhead (Melissa), Tekoa, WA, and Vern Lawhead, Canyon Lake, Texas. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Uncle Frank Lawhead and Aunt Beatrice Scheele.
A candlelight memorial service will honor her passing on March 16, at 6 PM, at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave., Seattle, Washington. The service will be live-streamed. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Lutherhaven.com Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. To share memories or condolences see the everloved.com website.
