I have a wonderful memory of Gloria and all the years we worked together at Bagley.  Her students were disciplined and she taught them well.  Jovan, I know you were there for her, picking her up after school, being patient while waiting for her and giving her great care as her health declined.  She always spoke fondly of you.  May the Lord reward you richly and comfort you in the days ahead.    I am going to donate money in memory of Gloria to the Diabetes Association.

It seems like just yesterday we worked in Payroll together and you talked about Gloria's teaching career.  I am so sorry you lost her so soon.  My heart goes out to you at this difficult time.

I did my student teaching with Gloria at Bagley Elementary.  It is because of her patience and words of encouragement that I am a teacher today.  She taught me so much and forced me to believe in myself. Many things I do in my classroom stem from her influence. She was more than a mentor, she was a friend.  A friend I will truly miss.

I met Gloria in 1985 when she started teaching at Bagley Elementary School.
Gloria was an inspiration as a teacher,
she was like a sister I never had, she
never failed to ask about my mother and also my daughter Carmen and her students loved her.  I taught with her
in the same building from 1985 until she
retired and I know I will miss her

Dear Joven and Soriano Family,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time. Our sincere condolences to you at the death of my best friend, Gloria.  Gloria and I had a very long and happy conversation few days before Christmas. I did not know that that was her last goodbye.  My family will missed her but I will her the most.

I met Gloria in 1969 at the University Hospital where we both worked. I worked at the Business Office part time in the afternoons and taught at St. Benedict's School during the day.  She convinced me to move in with her at a rooming house close to the school.  Her friendliness, her smiles, and soft laughs gained my trust and so I moved in with her and lived with some other young women.  She was like a sister to me.  She looked after me and when I have asthma attacks she will rub Vicks Vaporub on my back.  On weekends we will both stay at home- talked about our boyfriends Joven and Joe then our husbands.  We enjoyed talking about our parents, brothers, and my sisters too.  We found company with each other while away from our loved ones in the Philippines.

She asked me how I applied for my teaching license and I showed her how to apply.  She got her license and started to teach.  Our ways parted when we both got married, then busy with her parents and brothers and I did the same with mine.  Gloria was very brilliant and most of all her love for Joven, parents, and brothers was beyond compare. Her family was her priorities in life.  

Joven, take care of yourself like how you took care of Gloria.  She told me that you took care of her and without you she will be helpless.  I salute you for being a very ideal and loving husband to my friend.  May you always have God's Blessings! May her soul rest in peace and Perpetual Light Shine upon Gloria.
