Arlene attended the Colorado State College of Education (now University of Northern Colorado), and married Vern Strate in 1943. After the family moved to Seattle in 1956, she began a career in banking beginning with the National Bank of Commerce, and retiring from Rainier Bank as a senior bank officer over merchant credit card operations in 1982. She took great pride in her and her staff's successful close working relationships with hundreds of major business customers throughout western Washington.
In retirement she enjoyed travelling with her husband Vern, studying genealogy, word games from 'Scrabble' to crosswords, and visiting with her family and friends.
Arlene's last months were challenged by kidney failure and amyloidosis, but while frustrated by these setbacks she maintained a positive attitude until succumbing to heart failure on Saturday the 16th.
Arlene is survived by her children Jaclyn Strate Brandt, Don Strate and Randall Strate; grandchildren David Brandt, Steven Brandt, and Sean Strate; and great-granddaughter Kiarra Strate.
