Helen Jane Fong, 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 15, 2015. She was born on February 24, 1929, in Aurora, Oregon. In her twenties she decided to move to Seattle to be with her sisters, Lil and Jean. Helen married Howard Fong in 1953 and they had two daughters, Lani Morgan and Heidi Hui (Ross Peterson). Four grandchildren: Tiffany Barrett, Jeremy Morgan (Corby Wickard), Lisa Hui-Peterson (Phane Vongsaveng), and Chad Hui-Peterson (Schae Ann Like) and great grandson, Leonidas Hui-Peterson. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, sister Mary Wong, and brothers William (Sing) Chinn and Lossie (Bing) Chinn.
Helen grew up on the family farm. The gardening skills she learned on the farm followed her to home in Seattle. Helen had a large vegetable garden and she loved to plant flowers. Some of her favorites were bearded irises, gladiola, calla lily, and hydrangea. Her flowers live on in many other gardens today.
Helen enjoyed being creative in her spare time. She loved sewing dresses, Barbie clothes for her daughters, and knitting sweaters for them. Her talents went beyond sewing. She was also known for her apple pies and Christmas cookies. She loved to entertain and host many memorable Christmas and birthday parties.
There were many trips to Las Vegas. You could always find her at the Majestic Lions slot machines at the MGM Casino. She would always say, Some lucky dogs got to win, it may as well be me.
An avid Mariner's fan, Helen was the score keeper for M's games at GM Nameplate. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, taking them to the Puyallup Fair, Southcenter, watching ball games, and sharing french fries from McDonalds and curly fries from Hartman Park. She will continue to cheer the Mariners on.
