James Jim Rupel Abernethy, 93, of Bothell, died Friday, April 18, 2014. He was born April 10, 1921 in Evanston, IL, the son of the late Kingsley and Pearl (Rupel) Abernethy. James married Marilyn Lloyd in 1943,who preceded him in death in 1999. He moved to Bothell in 1966 to become Purchasing Manager for Simpson Supply Co. where he retired in 1983. Jim received a Bachelor's Degree in Forestry from Purdue University. He was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy during WW II, serving from 1942-46. James loved riding horses (Tennessee Walkers), raised exotic pheasants and was active in the Shoreline Senior tennis and volleyball leagues. He is survived by his four sons, Steven Abernethy, Scott Abernethy and wife Evelyn, Dan Abernethy and wife Judy, Brett Abernethy and wife Karen; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
