Jean peacefully passed away on Dec. 16th, 2019 at age 92. She was born Jan.16th, 1927 in Seattle, WA to Carl and Mayme Lischke. The family lived in several locations but eventually moved to Richmond Beach where Jean graduated from Richmond Beach High School in 1945. After high school Jean went to Pearl Harbor to visit her father who was stationed there for the Navy. In 1950 Jean married Bill Shinkle and they built a home on Phantom Lake in Bellevue, WA. In 1959 they adopted a baby boy named Mark and in 1961, they adopted a girl named Pam. Bill had purchased a boat and the family took many trips to the San Juan Islands. In 1969 Jean and Bill separated and Jean raised Mark and Pam in Bellevue. She worked as the attendance secretary at Lake Washington High School in Kirkland. In 1980 Jean married Richard Brandenburg. Rich had been a family friend for many years and had lost his wife to cancer. In 1989 Jean retired. Jean and Rich would take fishing trips to Canada. They would take road trips to Reno, the Grand Canyon and one of their favorites, Lincoln City, OR. Jean and Rich had almost 40 years of a wonderful marriage. On Jean’s 90th birthday, a party was held at their home. Many of her nieces and nephews came to wish her a happy birthday as she was the last of her brothers and sisters. Eventually at age 92 Jean’s health started declining. On Dec. 16th, 2019 Jean passed away in Bellevue with her husband Rich by her side. She is survived by her husband Richard, her son Mark, daughter Pam (Sayra), stepsons Mike and Dean, and step daughter in law Jodi. 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
