John "Jack" R. Drexel Jr.

John (Jack) passed away at age 84 on December 9, 2020, from complications of Alzheimer’s with his loving wife Evelyn by his side. Jack was born in Spokane, Washington, to the late John Raymond Drexel and Sylvia Evelyn Dahlen. He married Evelyn Marie Reiman on September 24, 1955, and they enjoyed a wonderful, loving 65-year marriage. He was a very loving, caring and devoted husband, father,

grandfather and friend.

Jack’s family moved to Seattle when he was five and he attended West Queen Anne Grade School and Queen Anne High School, graduating in 1954. He graduated from the University of Washington in Industrial Design in 1958. He went to work for Boeing shortly thereafter, where he worked for 37 years before retiring.

Upon retirement, Jack and Evelyn enjoyed extensive travel; usually two major trips a year, including one very memorable round-the-world meet and greet trip. Travel and photography were passions of Jack and he created a ‘wall’ of lovely photos of their travels as a memory of the joy they shared. He enjoyed working

with his hands and completed many projects as he helped in the building of their home in Edmonds. (He was also very proud of his weed-free lawn.) But his greatest passion was his family. He especially enjoyed entertaining his grandchildren in retirement when he had more time to spend with them. He enjoyed many backyard swim parties and excursions to the beach with as many grandkids as we could gather, creating wonderful memories.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Donna and Mary Alice.He is survived by his loving wife Evelyn, his daughters Debra Slotvig (Steven) andKaren McKinstry (David) and son John III (Terri). He is also survived by sevengrandchildren; Neal Slotvig, Joel, Alex, Jacob and Kami Drexel, Lee McKinstry and Kelsey McKinstry Snow (Cameron).

A memorial service will be held December 14 for family only. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jack’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission or a charity of your choice.
