
He was Interim Executive of the Church Council of Greater Seattle. He had over thirty years of ecclesiastical experience as a Pastor, District Presiding Elder and Leader in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. He provided leadership on the General Church?s Connectional Budget Board, Episcopal Committee, Audit Committee, Commission on Mission and Worship and Ritual Committee. On the annual conference level he served as Chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee, and Chairman of the Christian Education Board.
He served on numerous civic organizations from San Jose, CA, Cincinnati, OH and to Seattle, WA including Past President of San Jose NAAPC, Past Board of Directors Cincinnati Urban League, Co-founder Peninsula Association of Black Personnel Administrators, participated on one of the Mayor of San Jose?s committees as well as several ministerial organizations. His dedication and service was rewarded with several awards, certificates, and accommodations for leadership and services rendered.
He earned his experience in the corporate world serving in the Armed Forces for over 24 years, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He then moved to the private sector in Senior Human Resources Management for such companies as Fairchild Camera & Instrument Corporation, Schlumberger, and National Semiconductor, where he was over SEMETECH. He also served in the capacity for Director/Asst. Director of Affirmative Action for Fairchild and the University of Cincinnati. One of his final roles within the University of Cincinnati included that of instructor.
While working full time he completed his three college degrees: BA Psychology, MBA Management, and MA Theology.
In his spare time he became a published author in a few national publications, including ?Lenten Meditation?, ?Bible Meditation? and ?Children?s Meditation, 2000 Calendar?.
He is survived by his loving wife Anna, his daughter Misha, sons John III, and Keith, their spouses Yolanda, and Elaine, and his six grandchildren DeSean, Amy, LeAnna, Kristen, Matthew, and Sarah.
John departed this physical life at peace for he walked hand-in-hand with Christ. He exemplified that he was a Child of God by his integrity, compassion, commitment and focus. He had accomplished much in his short time here. As we remember John we can rejoice, because he went onto the next part of his spiritual journey.
Celebrate with his Aunt Denzora Waldron, Mallie Wyatt-Blalock cousin and Rocky & Elinda Dallas cousin. Alberta Ambrose, Mary Coakley and Earline Moore sisters-in-law along with his nieces and nephews, grand-nephews and nieces, great-grand nephews and nieces as well as his God children Ramona & Terrence Norris, Candace Smith, Vincent & Anicka Simon, Cameron Huston, Monroe Holley, Joyce Holley, Mary Holley, Edward Holley Jr., David Holley, Keith Payne, Vanessa Payne, Craig Agnew, Bobette Boone, Tjaara Coho, Marni Montanez, Tracy Griffin, Hao & Irene Troung and John & Janice Nelson.
He went home as a man of wealth because of the love and friendship of his immediate family. The only thing that he left behind is sweets.
