

Kathy was a lifelong resident of Washington, residing in Seattle (Ballard) and Marysville before relocating to Shoreline in 2022. After graduating from Bishop Blanchet High School in Seattle in 1968, Kathy began work at the Sherwood Inn working her way up to Executive Housekeeper. Kathy went on to work as a Medical Claims Analyst for Regence in Seattle, garnering many awards for excellence in customer service before retiring in 2013. Kathy was the frontline caregiver for her parents and good friend Jack Hopkins during illnesses that preceded their deaths.
Family was very important to Kathy, and she closely followed the lives of her many nieces and nephews. Kathy delighted in annual reunions of family members from both sides of the state. She enjoyed traveling, making trips with family members through the Panama Canal, Scotland, and Florida. Kathy loved animals, and her little Bella was her beloved companion for many years at her home in Marysville. Her Catholic faith was important to her, and she maintained regular attendance at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Wallingford throughout her adult life.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Ken and Elaine, brother Jack, and baby sister Colleen. She is survived by brothers Pat (Vera) and Dennis (Terry) McGuire, devoted sister Mo (Terry) Smedley, and numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
A funeral mass will be held at 11am Thursday, Sept 19th at St Benedict Catholic Church at 1805 N 49th St, Seattle with a Rosary recitation just prior at 10:30AM. Interment will be at Holyrood Cemetery, 205 NE 205th St, Shoreline, at 2PM Friday, Sept 20th.
