

Since childhood, Kim valued greatly her relationships with friends and family, and opportunities to spend time with loved ones. She would recount fondly childhood memories of passing time with her friends and spending time with her family during weekend trips to her grandmother’s cabin in Big Bear, CA.
Kim graduated from Valencia High School. She loved getting involved and was known for being constantly active in extracurricular activities, including the school STEM program, volleyball, band, and mock trial. A devoted believer, she was deeply involved in her church and dedicated herself to studying the Bible.
In 2003, Kim married Galen Mecham. Their family grew in 2007 with the adoption of their daughter, Kiara. As a devoted wife, she selflessly supported Galen through college, and they eventually settled in the Seattle area.
As a dedicated homeschool mom, Kim carefully chose and organized activities, spending her days driving Kiara to various engagements and providing instruction at home. An avid traveler, she loved taking her family on road trips and occasional international adventures. She prided herself on providing a broad education for Kiara by creating opportunities to help friends and family and exposing her to different cultures.
Kim was a passionate learner, always reading about history, current events, and politics. She was active in discussion groups and also enjoyed judging high school debate tournaments. Within her discussion groups, Kim was known for her intellectual curiosity and for not being afraid to speak her mind. As a judge, she was beloved by students and was honored to have been chosen to be a judge for the 2023 National Speech & Debate Tournament.
Known for her generous heart and eagerness to lend a helping hand, Kim shined brightest when she was in the service of others. She spent years assisting aging family members and was known for her willingness to drop everything at a moment’s notice to help someone in need.
Kim's boundless love and compassion for others were unmatched. She is survived by her husband Galen, daughter Kiara, mother Karen, and brothers Kevin, Keith, and Scott, as well as her extended family, including aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
