Our cherished Gram passed away August 11, 2008 in Vancouver, Washington. Lois was born October 27, 1919 in Bellevue, WA. She was the daughter of Frank and Amelia Carlquist who were old time settlers in the Bellevue Highlands area. Lois went to the old Highland Grade School and graduated as an honor student from Bellevue High School. She worked as a cook in various restaurants and later at the Washington Iron Works.
Lois was a wonderfully kind, gentle and loving person who always found something good in everyone and rarely said a bad word about anyone. Family meant everything to her; she was ?Gram? to everyone?her family, friends, neighbors and even casual acquaintances.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved son, Gary Smith; brothers, Edwin and Carl Carlquist; sister, Ruth Stevens; first husband, Jack Judge and second husband, Walter Smith.
She leaves behind her daughter and wonderful caregiver the past 4 years, Janet Powell of Vancouver, WA; granddaughters, Linda Jackson of Woodinville and Michelle McLaughlin of Bothell; grandson, Greg Smith of Mountlake Terrace; great granddaughters, Kassandra Jackson, Jenna Jackson and Taylor McLaughlin; great grandson, Brandon McLaughlin, and niece, Ruth Brown of Sultan, WA.
Viewing Friday, 10am-8pm at Evergreen-Washelli. Graveside services at 12:30pm on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Abbey View Cemetery, 3601 Alaska Road, Brier, WA.
