

She grew up on a small farm in the rural section of the state during the depression, graduated high school and attended college for one year before beginning to teach at a one room school house.
It was in college where she met her roommate Joyce Larson who invited her to Seattle where she met Joyce's brother Howard Larson whom she married in 1944 and bore four sons. They resided in the White Center district of SW Seattle. The couple divorced in 1956 leaving the two older sons with Howard and the two youngest went to live with their mother. In 1957 Marian met and married Maurice (Kit) Carson, a sailor in the US Navy. Being in the military they moved to the San Francisco area and then Whidbey Island, Washington before settling in Seattle's Ballard district, where she resided until 2 months before her death.
Her beloved husband Kit passed away in 1984 and was laid to rest at Evergreen-Washelli Cemetery in north Seattle.
Marian spent her working years as an employee of Sears Roebuck & Company and after retiring she volunteered at New Horizon's Ministries for 23 years. She enjoyed spending her free time working in her yard, she especially loved her raspberries. The other love of her life was opening her home to anyone in need of a place to stay.
In her later years she contracted Alzheimer's which caused her to be unable to do those things she loved. In December of 2021 she was placed in a home care unit.
Marian passed away in her sleep on the morning of February 25, 2022 at the age of 98 in the Good Shepherd Home in Shoreline Washington, a district just north of Seattle.
Services for Marian will be held 11:00 AM, Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave N (on the west side of Aurora Ave.)
Following the funeral service will be a graveside service where she will be laid to rest with her late husband Kit, in section W plot 315 of the Washelli Cemetery (on the east side of Aurora Ave) Seattle, WA 98133.
