Michele Khazak, 45, died unexpectedly of natural causes on October 17, 2025, at her home in Seattle, Washington. She was a musician and artist who will be remembered for her resonant voice and sharp intellect.
Born and raised in Bellevue, Washington, Michele was recognized early in life for her wit and many artistic talents. She was insightful and unapologetically honest - qualities that shaped her lifelong creative and intellectual pursuits.
Michele earned her degree in linguistics and English literature at the University of Washington, but music was her first and most constant language. She played piano from an early age and later lent her voice to countless performances, collaborations, and celebrations.
Her distinctive voice became familiar to many through her work as a producer at KEXP, where she combined her love of sound and language. In recent years, she worked on Seattle public transportation projects and valued both the work itself and the colleagues she shared it with.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lyudmila, with whom she shared an especially close bond, and by her beloved cat, Prudence. She is survived by her father and stepmother, Vladimir and Liudmila; her brother, Mike; her stepsister, Maria; her nieces and newphew; her aunts, Marina and Sofya; her cousin, Maria; and her partner, Nikolai, along with their cats, Rita and Maggie.
A celebration of Michele’s life will be held Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home in Seattle.
