

Morley, E. "Gene" Yagen passed away August 27, 2009 in Seattle, WA. "The Chief" was a unique individual with broad experiences and talents which spanned over the course of many decades. He was a great storyteller, avid cribbage player, a worthy adversary in the discussion of politics, and most importantly, a loving husband and father.
His life started on July 16th 1922 in Erie, North Dakota. Gene joined the Army prior to WWII and completed his military career retiring from the Air Force. He proudly served during the War and contributed to the Berlin Airlift at bases located in Germany and France. After his retirement from the military he settled in Seattle, "Gods' Country". He enjoyed 43 years of marriage with his co-pilot, Christa Yagen. He survived a battle with cancer. Gene continued to be productive and active by working for several years at Goodfellow Chrysler in the "U District". He was associated and served with Sojourners, Past Master of Lawton Masonic Lodge 292, and the American Legion Post 277.
He always looked out for his children and took them on many trips across the whole United States. He is survived by his wife, Christa, sons, Jerry, Arnold and Walter, daughter Marion, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a light that shown brightly to all and was loved by those in return.
