Steph Ross was born in Monrovia, California on May 2nd, 1945 to Frank and Mary Ross. He graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. He had vocal coaching from Alexander Kipnis, Roland Hayes, and more recently, Hartwig Eichberg and Awilda Verdejo. Steph performed with the Aspen Festival Opera, the Chicago Symphony Chorus, the San Diego Opera and the Seattle Opera. He received numerous vocal awards including the San Diego Opera's first Walter Herbert Award and the first San Diego Symphony Performance award to a vocalist. He was an original member of the Magnolia Chorale. His vocal repertoire ranged from Bach to Tom Lehrer.
He had a long career in sales - with Frederick and Nelson (a proud member of the RFQ group), and then several years at HomeGuard Security.
Steph is survived by his wife Paula, Sister Jeanne (David) Nelson, Brother Jim (Jakey) Ross, Brother Stuart (Priscilla) Ross, and his Sister-in-law Diane Egan. Also, 6 nephews and 1 niece and now their 10 children.
The memorial service will be Saturday, February 22nd at 4 p.m. at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church at 722 N. 145th St. in Shoreline. Bright Attire!
Loved by so many, he never knew a stranger, only a friend he had not met yet.
