Her family was interned to the Puyallup Fairgrounds and then relocated to Minidoka Internment Camp, in Idaho, during World War II. While in camp, she graduated from Hunt High School, class of 1943.
After Minidoka, she went to Kansas City, Missouri, to work for a family as a nanny and kitchen help. While there she graduated from Keister's Tailoring College, in 1946.
Returning to Seattle, she married George "Izzy" Miyazaki, in January 1948, and moved to a "big house" on Yesler Ave. The family later moved to Beacon Hill, where she spent the majority of her life. Later moving to Uwajimaya Village and then to Nikkei Manor.
Mom/Grandma loved to travel with her family and friends - Hawaii, Disneyland, Japan, and Alaska. Wherever she went she would look for souveniers for her grandkids. She liked to watch soap operas and work her schedule around them. Her independence showed when she could ride the bus to just about anywhere. She knew the schedules and where the stops were. She and her best friend, Betty Nakamichi, chased around the area looking for the most current Beanie Babies and quilting material, which kept her out and about.
Attending her grandchildren's sporting and academic events also kept her busy and active. Raising 5 children and witnessing her grandchildren graduating from college were her greatest accomplishments and joy.
Preceded in death by her husband, George Miyazaki, daughter, Alison. Parents - Shinji and Kura Kameda and brother, Terry Kameda.
Left to cherish her memory are her 5 children, Cora (Bruce) Brunette, Gerry (Nancy) Miyazaki, Clifford (Sherri) Miyazaki, Nelson (Lorraine) Miyazaki, Gwen (Brian) Kosai. 10 grandchildren, Malika Brunette, Bryson (Leah) Brunette, Cody Brunette, Jamie (Danielle) Miyazaki, Tracey Miyazaki, Paige Miyazaki, Layne Miyazaki, Brittany Miyazaki, Blake Miyazaki, Kaitlyn Kosai. 2 great-grandchildren Kailia and Brayden, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
