Otto Frank Motal Jr., born June 12, 1929 in Czechoslovakia Republic to Otto Frank Motal Sr. and Josephine Pirnus Motal, sadly has gone home to be with the Lord on December 16, 2015 in Edmonds, Washington.
After Otto's birth his family lived in LuhaÄÂovice in the summers and in Brno in the winters. In 1933 his family left Czechoslovakia migrating to Argentina, South America, where they lived for eight months. Following their short time of residence there, they came to the United States in 1934, settling in Chicago, Illinois when Otto was 4 years old. In 1938 they returned to Buenos Aires to secure permanent Visas. War broke out while they were there, forcing them to remain in Buenos Aires for a year and a half, before they were able to return to the United States on a quota basis.
Otto's family arrived in the United States again in December 1940, as permanent immigrants. The family did not have to process through Ellis Island. The family lived in Chicago from 1940 until 1955, when they moved to Seattle.
Otto was self employed as a wedding photographer with his business Otto F. Motal Photography located in Ballard, Washington for over 53 years. He was #1 Wedding Photographer in the Ballard/Seattle area. Otto photographed generations of families as well as dignitaries, television personalities, and professional athletes. Always able to make the wedding parties smile for the camera with jokes and laughter, and calling himself "Uncle Otto" to all.
In 1987 Otto met and married the love of his life, a beautiful young girl, Jacqueline Motal (aka "Baby Bear"), starting a long and happy relationship of 28 years. Otto and Jacqueline were married December 13, 1987 and moved to Edmonds the same year.
In 1989 they had a house built in Las Vegas, Nevada that they visited at least 2-3 times a year.
After over 53 years as a wedding photographer, Otto sold his business and house in Ballard and retired in 2000 to Edmonds, Washington.
Since Otto's retirement they have had the opportunity to travel around the world to see famous landmarks, one of the many things he liked to do as well as spend a few months out of the year in Las Vegas. Otto and Jacque have travelled to Czechoslovakia, China/Yangtze River Adventure, cruises to Hawaii, Alaska, Tahiti and surrounding islands, Disneyworld, Disneyland, and Disney Cruises with the family to the Bahamas and Mexico.
He had so much life and love to give to all those around him. The most generous, giving, kind hearted sole and known for his big smile and jokes, Otto will be sorely missed by so many.
Otto is survived by his wife Jacqueline Motal, two dogs Bella and Rose, his two step daughters Gayline Vernon and her husband David Vernon, Justine Ries, grandchildren Justin Martin, Madison Vernon, Jade Ries, Jasmine Ries and great-grandchild Bailey Martin, relatives and many great friends.
Your memories will forever be in our hearts.
We love you and miss you very much!
