Pat was born in Elizabeth, NJ and was married to Edward Ellingham, also from NJ. They spanned the country living their married life in Manhattan, New Jersey, Ohio, and Seattle, Washington. They have one son, Curtis Syms Ellingham.
Pat made friends and made a difference in every location she lived, freely volunteering her services and talents to Curt’s schools, local charities, family and friends. She was a loyal supporter and volunteer at Meals on Wheels and Tiny Homes. She spent countless hours helping friends and family. She was always someone they could turn to when in need of a ride to an appointment, a recipe, a “how-to” fix-it or DIY project, a hand made Halloween costume, a book recommendation, or a good hearty laugh. Her small hand made gifts, discreetly left on your door handle or mailed across the country, her clever holiday treats, and perspective on life will be dearly missed.
While she will be missed by many, we know Pat will most miss driving and watching her grandchildren at their countless activities, including Tae Kwon Do, soccer, lacrosse or basketball, as well as her coffee stops in Madison Park, her YMCA gym mates, her Madison Park neighbors, “her flock”, her book club friends, and her educational classes/lectures.
Pat was predeceased by her parents Rose and William Whelan, her sister Jacqueline Maseker, and her husband Ed. She is survived by her brother William Whelan of Toms River, NJ, and her son Curtis Ellingham, of Seattle, WA, his wife Alicia, and their two children, Pat’s grandchildren, Mia and Cooper Ellingham, who she adored. She will also be dearly missed by her “New Jersey family”, her nephew Tim Maseker, his wife Kathleen Lynch and their three children Aidan, Aine, and Declan.
Respecting Pat’s wishes for “no-fuss” upon her eventual passing, there will be no formal services. For friends and family who will dearly miss her, she would want you to only remember the good times, the friendship, the laughs and the times you enjoyed with her while she was with us. She will be laid to rest at the New Jersey shore with her husband Ed.
