On June 13, 1911 Phyllis Roquemore tumbled from heaven into the loving arms of Georgianne and William Roquemore in Texarkana, Texas. (Where the stars at night are BIG and Bright!). She was the 6th child of thirteen children.
She met the love of her life Charlie Stinson, fell in love, married and from that union came her PRIDE AND JOY!!!!!!!, A beautiful bouncing baby boy - Willie Charles Stinson.(Little did she know that one seed would bare such a fulfilled life of loving grand, great, and great, great grand children, they poured soooooo much love into her!!!
In 1938 Phyllis received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour with the Baptism of the Holy Ghost as a witness and bare fruit immediately. Her mother was soooo inspired she also received Jesus Christ and the blessed overflow eventually onto her only Son Willie Charles Stinson.
Still a young woman, Phil (some called her) decided to venture to the place of opportunity - Los Angeles, California. Once there she opened a business doing what she loved....serving people in her restaurant. For many years also she owned a room house and blessed many more people. She enjoyed singing, praising God, church work, kingdom work and cooking large dinners to bring the family together, and the likes of her cooking. (Those four layer jellie cakes, pineapple cakes, dressing, potatoe pies, you name it...umm ummm good!!!) While living in Los Angeles she started taking care of another one of her favorite people her mother (Georgianne), she took care of her until her transition in 1970. Before passing Phyllis and Georgianne where under the leadership of Bishop W. W. Flowers of St. Luke C.O.G.I.C.(Later know as Flowers Temple).
Mama, Aunt, Granny, and Nanny (She was a nanny for 22 years to a wonderful family called the Aikens, with Patty, Barbara, and Debbie who were engrafted as Godly family members). This family continued to love and take care of her until her death. Because of her committment to God, to Love, honor and be a servant of Jesus Christ, she surely was a virtous woman, she lived to love. Her family was always valued and ALL of her grands, great grands, and great, great grands and anybody else that took to her gentle heart, knew without a doubt they were surely, greatly love. The "Senior Times" honored Mother Phyllis for her love, dedication, and loyalty as a senior raising grandchildren . She had a lot to say about the then, "more obedient children",(in her day) verses the new "self willed children", but believes God gave her the chore and left her here to fill some of that emptiness that she knew some lives have. But she said "Oh, Boy shuuuucks", in my day I seen my brothers try to be grown - they still obeyed mama, you had better.(Or a razar strap or the likes would meet your behind). She knew being there when a child might need to turn to you for whatever is vital......she was bound to be there for them. She raised them all to know where their help comes from "The Lord Jesus Christ". Mama Phil even up to 99 years of age until her health started declining in March 2010, she was able to handle her great, great grandson 4 year old Brandon who is FOUR HANDFULLS!!!!!..
Mother Phyllis was also honored by the Presiding Prelate Bishop Charles Blake, because she was an OPHGF(Original Penecostal Holy Ghost Filled woman of God from the historical "Azuza Street Holy Ghost" movement under the leadership of the Honorable Bishop Charles H. Mason".
In the blessed year of 1970 Phil and Wil were missing each other. Her Son a retired service man bought mom a home and they reunited here is Seattle Washington. WHAT A JOY!!!!!!!!!!!!! The team back together!!!! She was under the leadership of Elder Jones of "Harvest Time C.O.G.I.C". Later the Lord gave her a new church home, Church of Jesus Christ under the leadership of Elder Wilbert Austin in 1999 and she remained faithful, and loyal till her transition. She was the eldest mother of the church and at 99 was still such an inspiration to all.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Charles Stinson, and Jimmie Taylor, three sisters Frances, Eileen, and Ola, five brothers.
