Purificacion “Pur” Ochave Mitre passed away peacefully Saturday March 2, 2019 at Providence Mt. St. Vincent in West Seattle with her husband and family members by her side. She was born In Manila, Philippines on September 16, 1931.
She is the daughter of Marcelo Ochave, the former mayor of Alaminos City and her mother, Marcela Ochave, who passed away shortly after her birth. Her father, busy trying to provide for the family, left her care to her grandfather and raised her as an only child. As a toddler, her father remarried and had a boy, Jaime Ochave , a brother she loved until his passing a few years ago.
She grew up in Alaminos, Philippines, a province of Pangasinan. Graduating from Alaminos High School, she went on to Far Eastern University, but never graduated. A student athlete in high school and college she was very active in Purificacion “Pur” Ochave Mitre
sports playing volleyball, softball, and track.
She married her husband, Claro “Ed” Anden Mitre Jr., raised seven children and had a hand in raising twelve grandchildren, including Lucy dog. The family lived in various Navy cities, settling down in Seattle, WA where Ed retired from the Navy. She worked mostly part-time cashiering jobs to help support her family, but still had time to be involved with her children’s upbringing. When her children were all grown-up, she finally had more time for travel to her home town and other past-time hobbies.
A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she will be missed but forever found in the hearts and minds of her loved ones.
Pur is survived by her husband Claro “Ed” A. Mitre Jr., sons Ismael “Chico” Fernandez Jr., Joel (Marie) Mitre, Jeff (Alisa Oba) Mitre, daughters Percy (Delven) Corpuz, Marie (Dean) Hasegawa, and Perla Lynn (Ed) Owens, daughter-in-law Teresa Mitre, grandchildren, Pearla (Arthur) Grier, Kristen and Nick, Kyle Horst, Daniel (Shayna) Corpuz, Joshua and Kaleb Corpuz, Riley and Dylan Owens, Lauren Mitre, Marcelo and Malia Mitre.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Jaime Ochave, son James Ochave Mitre, and daughter-in-law Daphne Fernandez
A private funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Church Seattle, WA
