I've known Dick and LaVonne for 37 years, lived next door to them for 30 years, and our kids grew up with Rick and Gina's kids  Andrew, Tony, and Francesca. Through all those years they were great neighbors. 

Dick was always generous and lent me ladders, scaffolding, and sometimes tools when I tackled various home improvement projects.  He gave me advice and we used him to replace windows, doors, and locks both in our personal home as well as a couple of rental properties. His work was always thorough and of the best quality.

Dick was a good and honest man. It was a pleasure to know him and may God bless his soul as he passes on to the next life.

 My thoughts and prayers for all the Cameron family.  Dick was a wonderful person to work with I will truly miss him!he was always so positive and found a  way out of every situation with a smile, even at the end of his time he was so encouraging as I go back and read the last text message he send me wishing me the best not thinking of himself but of others!that is how I will always remember him.

The following is a draft of my talk at Dick's memorial service

I first met Dick Cameron in 1985  32 years ago. I last saw him a week before he passed away  just this last month.

My husband Steve (here officiating) purchased the house next door to Dick and LaVonne in 1980. I moved in after Steve and I married in 1985.

Except for our five years living in Japan, Steve and I, and later our kids, Lauren and Aaron lived next door to Dick and LaVonne  a total of 25 years, Steve for 30 years.

When we returned from Japan in 1997, Michael, Rick, Gina and their kids, Andrew, Tony and Francesa, and were all living with Dick and LaVonne. Lavonne's mom Iris and dad, Jim were their other next door neighbors.

Until Rick and Gina moved to Vancouver, our kids were constantly either at Dick and LaVonne's place or at Rick and Gina's place or at Jim and Iris' house. Or their kids, mostly Francesca were at our place. Andrew and Tony were older and we didn't see them as much.

The Cameron's were awesome neighbors. As Steve mentioned, over the years Dick worked on the doors, windows, door knobs and locks on our two houses, and our two rental houses. 

He was always great to work with  always helpful, always gave us a fair price. And he was always a gentleman.

Not long after we returned from Japan we were hoping to move into a larger house with a different floor plan. We were never really able to find a place that suited us, and we got to thinking, you know, since we won't be able to take Dick and LaVonne with us, maybe we should just stay put! 

And we did. Over the next eight years we would continue to live next door. The kids would grow up together, and we'd continue to live in our safe little cul de sac in Arbor Heights with our awesome neighbors!

Times change, people move and kids grow up, but the good memories we have of our little enclave in West Seattle will always be with us.

As we do for all our family and friends, we hope and pray that someday they will come to know Christ. When Dick called us just a couple of months ago to ask if we would take him to Mass, we were so happy. The fact he lived his life well, but then as his life was winding down, he realized just living a good life was not enough.

Over the years I always thought Dick had a soft spot for spiritual things, maybe he just didn't know how to proceed. In the end, he found his way. 

May Dick Cameron's soul rest in peace.

It was a privilege to have known Dick, LaVonne and all of the Cameron family.

I've had the pleasure of working with Dick for the past 20+ years as a fellow consultant.  His insights, humor and clear understanding of life will be missed.

It has been an honor and privilege to have known both you and Dick these past 28 years.  I'll never forget and will always be grateful for Dick coming to my "rescue" at Brandon St.  I'll raise a toast to him every April 15th as he will certainly be missed.

We enjoyed visiting with Dick at the August Neighborhood night outs! We also recall the fun times our son had at scouts with Dick as the scout master! Do know that our thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this diffucult time!

Mr. Cameron opened his home to me after I left university.  Dick was a caring man.  He always seemed to have a smile on his face.  Certainly in his heart.  He was a gentle man.  I never saw him get mad or upset.  He gave good sound advice when I asked for his opinion.  He never judged.  Dick was greatly admired.  I never told him that, but being the wise man he was, he probably knew.

Mrs. Cameron, LaVonne, he was a great man.  Hold onto the wonderful memories.

Mike, Rick and Brian, continue to live your lives in his model.

Andrew and Francesca, whom I remember meeting and the rest of your cousins honor him by continuing to build upon his legacy, your legacy.

So very sorry for your loss. I remember Dick as our paths crossed at the Sage DacEasy Certified Consultants annual conferences. He was a great guy and he will be missed.

Spending those time talking and troubleshooting Daceasy program issue with Dick is my most memorable time.
Listening to his joyful voice and laughter is even unforgettable.
May God give him eternal rest and the family the strength to bear the great pain.

Dick always had a smile and a welcoming way. From sharing training and fun times at the annual Sage conference - to making contributions on our DacEasy list - he was humble and caring - sharing anything that might help and never shy about speaking up when he needed help - truly gracious.  Dick will be sorely missed.

I did not have many interactions with in Dick in person.  However, I knew him very well through his frequent posts in a usergroup board.  Through that I came to admire his openness and fighting spirit.  I will miss that spirit.  I hope his soul rests in eternal peace.  My deepest condolences to his loved ones and pray that they God gives them strength to move on in his absence.

This small group of professionals has existed for over 25 years to interact with and support each other.  Existing partly online and partly in annual conventions we are in nearly daily contact.  Dick has been a participating member since the beginning. Each of us feels privileged to have been a part of something we each recognize as very special. Dick will be remembered for his courage and faithfulness. He will truly be missed and fondly remembered.

Dick was always a wonderful person to be around at our annual conferences.  He was someone that didn't hesitate to lend a hand or help solve a DacEasy problem. I have missed seeing him over these past years at conference but always looked forward to email correspondence.  Praying that his family will find comfort and feel God's presence.

Dick was a gentleman and a true class act.  It was always a pleasure to work with him.  I hope memories of Dick will comfort his family.  We will miss him.

I meet Dick in 2000.  Ever since we have had a great time with either the Dac Easy or Sage conferences.  I specifically remember a trip to the Air Museum during one of the Wash. DC conferences.  I will miss him and keep his family in my prayers.

I met Dick at the DacEasy conferences many years ago. I didn't know him well but the few times we spoke I always enjoyed his company.  Very sorry for your loss.
