The family will hold a private celebration of Robin's life.
Robin was born Dec. 24, 1954, in Fort Ord, Calif., to Ann M. and Thomas E. Ward. She graduated from Kendrick High School in 1972. She married her childhood sweetheart, Art Viens, on July 24, 1972, in Columbus, Ga.
Robin came to Anchorage in 1987 with her family. Robin had a long career as an administrator in the legal field. She retired in 2008 and moved to Salem, Ore., with her husband.
Family wrote: "She was a great friend. A passionate caring person. A teacher of life. A wonderful wife. A loving mother and grandmother "amma." She was one of the strongest and loving women we ever knew. She had a love for life and those who were around her. She had no favorites, yet all were her favorites in their own right. She was a fighter and fought to the end. Her final year of life as we know it was an inspiration to us all. She believed in the life after so all who loved her can take comfort in the fact that she has not left us:she has just moved on to the next phase of her journey."
She is survived by her husband, Art Viens of Salem; daughter, Leah Viens of Anchorage; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Keith Prentice of Salem; son, Shaun Viens of Seattle, Wash.; granddaughters, Shelby Brown of Anchorage and Audrey Prentice of Salem; brothers, David Ward, Mark Ward, Kerry Ward and Michael Ward of Georgia and Kevin Ward of Alabama; sister, Laurie Tidwell of Georgia; mother-in-law, Roberta Viens; sisters-in-law, Anne Swift and Cathy Kargacin; and brothers-in-law, Joe Viens, Robbie Viens and Paul Viens.
Robin was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ann Ward; brother, Keith Ward; and father-in-law, Joseph Viens.
