Our beautiful boy has left us too soon and we are heartbroken. Rourke was the third of four children born to David and Victoria Van Zile in Bothell, WA. From the start he was incredibly mischievous and creative, keeping everyone entertained with his wicked sense of humor and infectious laugh. Rourke attended St. Brendan Parish School and Archbishop Murphy High School, graduating in 2011. He went on to Seattle University and then University of Washington graduating Phi Beta Kappa in English Literature in 2015.
We are truly blessed to have known him. Our family circle is now a little smaller and a little tighter as we grieve together. We lost Rourke to addiction and instead of probing the "what ifs," we are choosing to celebrate all the wonderful memories of him, and there are so many. We hope that those who knew Rourke will continue to smile thinking about his charm and his many antics and share on his online memory book.
Rourke is survived by his parents David Van Zile (and Donna Van Zile) and Victoria Van Zile (and Steve Johnson), his sister Blake and brothers, Keegan and Jack, and many loving relatives.
An informal Memorial will be held on Monday January 21st at 6:00 PM at Lake Forest Park Civic Club. Come as you are, as you were, as Rourke would want you to be.
A Celebration Mass will be held on Wednesday January 23rd at 11:00 AM at Saint Brendan Catholic Church in Bothell, WA.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to Seattle Humane Society at https://www.seattlehumane.org. Rourke never met a rescue he didn't like.
