
Age 87, passed away August 23 after a long battle with congestive heart failure. He was born in Seattle on November 3, 1918. He attended Interlake Elementary, Hamilton Jr. High, and Lincoln High 1936.
After serving in the Navy during World War II, he joined the Seattle Fire Department and retired as a Lieutenant in 1966. Sam was very proud that family members contributed 176 years of service as Seattle firefighters. He was also a dedicated volunteer with the Boy Scouts for many years. Sam was honored for this work by the Mayor during the 1962 World?s Fair in Seattle. As a loyal fan of high school sports especially Lincoln, Ballard & Roosevelt, he made frequent use of his Gold Lifetime Metro League pass. Sam enjoyed gardening and helping family and friends with home improvement projects. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a gentleman?s charm and a family who adored him. Sam will be missed by many, always loved and never forgotten.
He was preceded in death by Harmony, his wife of 66 years, son Richard, mother Adelina, father John, and brother Harold. He is survived by sons Donald Andrea and David Kristi Adams, grandchildren Steve Anna Adams, Julie Adams, Tricia Adams, Carrie Mike Goetz and Heidi Brock Kelly, great grandchildren Desivie, Lauren, Alivia, Jacob and Peyton, nieces and nephews Terrie, Jolynn, Judy, Paul, and Pat.
Funeral will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 29 at Evergreen-Washelli Chapel followed by graveside services. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Sunrise of Lynnwood and Hospice of Snohomish County for their wonderful care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Seattle Fire Department Medic 1 or Fremont Baptist Church.
