

Scott Powell AGER, age 59, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 23rd, 2010. Scott was born on January 15th, 1951, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His family moved to Olympia, Washington in 1960, where he spent the rest of his formative years. A precocious child,Scott demonstrated an early affinity for science, particularly chemistry. As a fifth grader, his science project, a masterfully perfected mock volcano, spewed flames and smoke into the classroom, prompting immediate evacuation, much to the delight of his classmates. This experiment would serve to inspire Scott in his future endeavors, particularly in the field of chemistry. Scott graduated from Olympia High School in 1969, having spent his junior year as an International Exchange Student in Quito, Ecuador. Scott earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from the University of Puget Sound, and subsequently earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Idaho. He then worked in the private sector as a chemist for several companies in the Pacific Northwest, and was employed as a consultant for an extended period of time in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Regarded by his many colleagues as a brilliant chemist, he held several patents in chemical processes, and published a number of articles in scientific journals. Scott was known and loved for his great sense of humor, brilliant wit, bursts of creativity, and his heartfelt generosity and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Ager. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Dr. Ernest (Doris) Ager, of Camano Island, WA, and siblings: Susan Ager Breitbarth of Dallas, TX, Patricia Ager Johnson of Pullman, WA, Alan Ager of Pendleton, OR, Holly Ager McCabe of Minneapolis, MN, Heather Ager Mosebar of Redmond, WA, and Mary Jo Ager of Arlington, WA.
