Shirley W. Fox died peacefully on February 22nd, 2016 in her home. She was a Seattle native born May 14th, 1926 to Carl and Bertha Whitehead. She grew up in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood with her brother and best friend Russell Whitehead. She graduated from Ballard High School and attended the University of Washington before marrying Raymond Fox and eventually moving to the Washington D.C. area where they lived for over 30 years. Shirley and Ray raised three wonderful children and finally retired and returned back to Seattle in 1990.
In addition to being a wonderful mother and grandmother, Shirley loved to travel, which she did often. She visited dozens of countries on 5 continents spanning 8 decades. Her final trip was to China at the age of 83.
Shirley was a kind and loving person and she will be incredibly missed by her three children Kathleen Fox, Michael Fox, Brian Fox and his wife Fara, as well as her six grandchildren, Brianna and husband Steve, Caleb, Rebekah, Katherine, Emily and Hope, her caregiver Susie, her best friend of 77 years Eldeen and numerous nieces and nephews.
