Steve is a person that will be missed in my heart.  He was always nearby when I came to Seattle to find my father who has been missing since 1996.  Steve printed up the missing persons posters and did not even know me.  We had never even spoken.  When I arrived in Seattle he was there with open arms to help me in my hour of need.  I just hope that this will let you know that he was a great man and I know that he is with his daughter as well as my dad.  They are all smiling down on us and I am so greatful that I could know him.  To Steve's family, you have never meet me, but I know he loved you all.  Please email me if you would ever like to talk.  Steve was there for me and my family and I would like to be there for you.

You are in shock at the moment, I am too.  The story of how I found this site today, March 21, 2001, is a long one.  I wonder if there is any relation?  My prayers are with you as you travel this continued journey they call grief.  I am on the same journey.  My little girl, Sara Koski, died eight months ago http://www.internetforjesus.com.  I am sure her death is the only reason I found this site.  I actually found a memorial for Stephen's daughter earlier today as I was adopting an angel that was murderedMichelle Koski.  I have your angel on my angel's site.  We share the same name.  God how I wish I could have met Stephen.  When Michelle was murdered a few  people who know me saw the news and thought it was me.  At the time I suppose we resembled.  I never saw the media and was unable to look into it.  I tried for about four months and gave up and through time forgot. When I saw Michelle's photo today, cold chills ran up my spine and now, just hours later I find out her Daddy joined her just weeks ago. I'm sure she was waiting to greet him at the Golden gates of Heaven.  God Bless You!

Stephen was my brother..He was so very special to me.  He was a quiet, gentle man who loved his wife, his children, and working in his garden.  He could make all living plants beautiful.  He had lost his daughter Michelle and spent the last ten years trying to find the ones who had taken her from him.  For awhile, he lost precious time with his son, Jeremy and Chris but in the last few years of his life he struggled with his feelings of regret and began to once again build with his sons.  His wife Georgene is a very special lady in that she loved my brother dearly and took such wonderful care of him while he was ill. My brother would say to me that she "pampered and spoiled him"  I am so thankful that he had her.  I will miss my brother terribly but have such wonderful memories of times spent with him...I love you little brother, always, Anita

I was so glad to have met Steve. He was one of a kind, and I found his unique personality to be quite delightful. My sympathy goes out to family and close friends at this time. It is my hope and prayer that they will find their comfort in the Lord of mercies. Steve will surly be missed by all who knew him.

I first came to know Stephen when he responded to some messages that I had posted as written on the CompuServe Crime Forum.

We had exchanged messages for a few days before I learned that he lived in Seattle and that we had a friend in common. Lee Sansum. Shortly after that we met and struck a quick identification and lasting friendship.

It was at Stephenâ€™s urging that we posted one of the first Crime Victimâ€™s website to the Internet; we were among the first support/resource pages available. Our different work styles, later led us to divide our efforts but in the years since, our sites have reached out to over 33367 individuals most themselves, victims or survivors of violent crime. This has been a success what we often reflected on and were justly proud of.

Through the years we became more like brothers than friends. I euphemistically referred to him as my 60â€™s Hippie-Yippy buddy. In reality he was neither but our many debates bordered within that generation. In some cases he changed my opinion and in others I changed his while on others we could never agree.

After our trips to the doctors in Seattle we would hug and as he and Georgine would leave for their palace on the Island he would offer his gratitude for my being there to help. It was not at all uncommon to see a tear or two in his eye. I donâ€™t know how many times I told both of them â€œThatâ€™s what Friends do for Friends.â€

His was a long and hard fought battle that day-by-day drained everything from his once strapping body but his indomitable spirit.

FRIENDSHIP

Thereâ€™s a miracle called Friendship that dwells within the heart, and you donâ€™t know how it happens or when it gets its start.

But the happiness it brings you always gives a special lift, and you realize that Friendship . . . is Godâ€™s most precious gift.

My goodbye is simple: There is one more thing that Friends do for Friends . . . they miss them deeply when theyâ€™re gone.

I had lost track of Steve this past decade...had spent the last few years trying to locate him on the net and elsewhere.  I learned alot from Steve in our younger, rowdier times.  Some considered him anti-social...I just saw him not paying homage to the trivialities of society.  I respected him deeply for that...living his own truth.  I also saw some of his spirit disappear when his daughter did.  Gee, I haven't seen you in years, but my prayers and thoughts are with you.  Unfortunately, I am stuck on the East Coast by a blizzard and won't be able to attend Steve's memorial...but would be there if I could.  Remind me sometime to tell you the story of how Steve once accidentally blew up the school house in Antacortes that he was drywalling.  What a time we had that day!
