

Dr. Terry Neal Lindquist died peacefully on November 13, 2016 with his wife and daughters beside him. He was born on December 13, 1936 in Missoula, Montana to Alice and Neal Lindquist, and he grew up in the tiny town of Elliston.
Terry met Shirley Moody as students at Western Montana Teacher’s College. The couple married in 1957, moving around the Pacific Northwest, working and continuing their educations, while raising four children.
In 1973, Terry graduated from the University of Oregon with a Ph.D. in Educational Administration. He was the first person in his family to attend college.
Terry was a dedicated and driven professional. He greatly enjoyed a long and successful career in public education. From 1989 to 2002, he was the superintendent of Educational Service District 121. In 2007, he came out of retirement to serve as interim superintendent for the Vashon Island School District. He also served his community volunteering with KCTS, Solid Ground, 501 Commons’ Executive Service Corps, and the Foodbank at St. Mary’s.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronnie Lindquist; sister, Sharon White; and son, Michael Lindquist. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Lindquist, his son, Scott Lindquist, daughters, Christine Lindquist and Lauri Lindquist, and grandchildren Hau’olilani Hiers, Jessica Lindquist, Henry Lindquist, Scott Lindquist, Joseph Lindquist, and Miko Lindquist North, and extended family members, Brian North, Nick Moody, Sakda Timsuwan, and Peggy Lindquist.
The Lindquist family is very grateful for the outpouring of love and support. Memorial contributions may be made to the Foodbank at St. Mary’s, or the ACLU.
