Thomas James Weber was born on February 23, 1941 in Mankato, Minnesota, and passed away on March 5, 2023 in Seattle, Washington at the age of 81. He had fought a valiant fight with three different cancers and we are devastated to have him be gone from our lives, but we take comfort in knowing he is at peace and without pain.
Tom was born to Joe and Otilia Weber and was the eighth of nine children. His family drove across the country and settled in Spokane, Washington when he was a little boy. He grew up in Spokane, attending St. Aloysius Catholic School (and altar serving at the church), and then Gonzaga Prep for high school. Tom met his wife-to-be, Sally Bunch, at a high school dance when they were 14 years old. They married soon after graduating from high school and moved across the state to Seattle, where they settled and built a beautiful life together. They had five children and gave them a wonderful childhood growing up together in the North Seattle areas of Greenlake and then Ballard. Tom started his career in grocery and worked his way up to store manager, managing Tradewell and Prairie Market stores. He later switched careers and became a salesman, spending most of that part of his career selling for Mother’s Cake & Cookie Company. He was a “salesman’s salesman” and was celebrated as Salesman of the Year. Everybody loved Tom Weber. After retiring Tom and Sally enjoyed traveling with friends and spending time with their children and four grandchildren. When Tom was first diagnosed with cancer the traveling slowed down, but he and Sally spent many wonderful days building a lifetime of memories with special friends and precious family. They were truly blessed to have each other and we were truly blessed to have him for as long as we did.
Tom is preceded in death by his father Joseph Weber, mother Otilia Weber, his father-in-law William Bunch, mother-in-law Virginia Bunch, his siblings Dale, Mary, Cyril (Cy), Robert (Bob), Leon, and John, and his son-in-law Christopher Durbin. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sally Weber, his siblings Joseph (Joe) Weber and Catherine (Cathy) Ciallella, his children Kristen Durbin, Soren DeSelby, Robert Weber (Arianne), Sarah Marchione, and Joseph Weber, and his grandchildren, Zachary, Peyton, Jonathan and Sofia.
A funeral Mass In celebration of Tom’s life will take place on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church in Shoreline, Washington. A reception will immediately follow, and burial will take place at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in Shoreline, Washington.
