
Died December 31, 2000. He was a 40-year Bothell resident. Born in Wray, Colorado on December 28, 1920 on a farm, his grandparents homesteaded, he graduated from Vernon High School. Shortly thereafter he joined the US Navy. He was stationed on the Battleship Maryland on December 7, 1941. That day was never far from his mind. After Pearl Harbor the Navy sent him back to the US to train to be a Navy officer. He attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO and completed his training at Columbia University in New York, NY. He then returned to Colorado College to finish his degree in business and banking. He married Jeanne Laushine Edwards in 1946. They moved to Seattle in 1948 where he worked in the dairy industry. He retired from Vitarich Ice Cream Co. in 1986. Bill was a lifetime Lions Club member, elected three times to president; he was awarded many national and international awards, most recently the prestigious Melvin Jones award. Survived by his wife, State Representative Jeanne Edwards, children Julie McCartney, Jill Bowman, Will Edwards, and Colleen Ogden, and the light of his life, his five grandchildren and his sister, Marge Godsey.
