Bill, a Seattle native, was born March 1, 1928 to George & Rose Gallagher. He was the eldest of two children. His brother, Earl, died in 1955.
Graduated from Ballard High in '46, he continued his education at the UW. During his late teens and early twenties he developed a life-long love of flying. Often he would fly from Seattle to the family cabin at Useless Bay on Whidbey Island in an Aronka Champ float plane. In 1950, the Korean war called him to the front as a radio-man, where he documented much of what he saw in photos. Upon his return to Seattle, he married Margaret Ann Becker. He worked for 25 years in quality control for American Can Co., and after that he went on to design programs for Seattle City Light and audit aerospace quality control for Heath Techna.
Fishing, flying, photography, music (piano/organ), cooking, gardening, genealogy, Sea Scouts, painting, science, history, and recreational sports were but a few of his many intrigues. Although he was low-key, his heart was generous and warm. He was a rock in our lives, hard working and honorable.
We can't honor Bill without honoring his relationship with his wife of nearly 60 years, Margaret. He lovingly cared for her during her lengthy illness prior to her death in 2008. They are survived by their two children, Robin Adair and Daniel Gallagher, four grandchildren, Gabriel Morgan, Paisley Gallagher, Shauna Stead and Holly Ainslie, and two great grandchildren.
