Winnie DuPree was 83 when she died on August 14 at Evergreen Hospice Care Center in Kirkland after a heroic 11-month fight against pancreatic cancer. She was the youngest of five children and the sole surviving child of John and Estella Morris. Brothers Snooky, John, and Chuck, and sister Maggie preceded her in death. She was a graduate of the Garfield High School class of 1945. She worked for more than 35 years for the Seattle Police Dept before retirement in 1982. She was a noted amateur actress in her younger years and was an avid bowler, golfer as well as a formidable Scrabble, bridge and pinochle player. She is survived by sons David, Lenny, Paul and Ricky DuPree, stepson Alan Peacher, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held at St. Clement's Episcopal Church in Seattle at 11:30AM, Wed, Aug. 18.
