

Ethel Elcora Spence (Babe) of Ardmore, PA was born on April 16, 1925 to Peter Davis and Hattie James. Ethel had three siblings (all deceased): Mabel Kenneth and Irene Davis. She attended schools in the Lower Merion School District. Ethel passed away peacefully at the age of 90 in Ft.
Worth, TX on July 12, 2015
On April 22, 1941 Ethel became wife to Earl S. Spence (deceased), and together they had six children-, Earl Spence, Jr. (Beverly) of San Antonio TX, Ellsworth “Petey” (Marsha) of Willingboro NJ, Elaine Slater (deceased), Anthony “Tony” Spence of Ft. Worth, TX, James “Jimmy” Spence of Dallas TX, and Janis Spence Davis (deceased). She was an amazingly strong and loving mother who cared for her eldest three while Earl Sr., was deployed in the US Navy.
Earl and Ethel relocated from the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia, PA to San Antonio, TX in 1980, and there she was an active member of her church and community. A cancer survivor, Ethel volunteered at a local hospital in Seguin, TX. It was not uncommon for Ethel to be stopped while shopping by people who she had extended acts of kindness to.
Eleven grandchildren proudly call her Nana: Tracy, Michael, Lisa, Renate, Kevin, Tina, Jamal, Shonda, Tony Jr., Tiffany and James. Ethel also leaves to mourn twenty-one great- grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and a host of friends and extended family.
