Virginia Howard

Virginia B. Howard, age 87, went to be with her Lord on September 22, 2011. She was born to Elthor Edgar and Clara (Jandt) Babel in Gruene, Texas on June 25th, 1924. She spent her childhood on the family farm near Geronimo, and graduated from Navarro High School where she was the only girl in the graduating class of 1940. Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was a past president of the Seguin Garden Club and was active in the Seguin Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #555, serving as Worthy Matron. She was also a member of Cross Church in Seguin and served in various committees.

She is preceded in death by her husband Eldridge Dale Howard; brothers, Elthor "Buddy" Babel and Bobby Babel; and sisters, Elva Rauch, Melva Grimm and Wilma Erben. Virginia is survived by her sister, Doris Grimm; children, June Brietzke and husband Lee Roy, Kathryn Reed and husband Bill, Carol Sassman and husband Freddy, Chuck Tschoepe and wife Lyn and Kelvin Tschoepe and wife Cissy; 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Cross Church, 814 N. Bauer St, Seguin, Texas on Monday, September 26, 2011 from 5 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at Cross Church on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 2 pm. with interment following at Lone Oak Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Brietzke, Kevin Brietzke, Karl Brietzke, Paul Brietzke, Glenn Kosub Jr. and Stephen Sassman. Memorial contributions may be made to Cross Church. Services are under the direction of Goetz Funeral Home.
