Anna Nolin

She was born to Giuseppina and Vincenzo Raimondo on February 26, 1928 in Naples, Italy. She met her husband Louis while he was stationed in Naples during World War II. They were married on July 1, 1945 in Italy. Anna came to this country in the fall of 1946. She and Louis lived in Clementson, Minnesota for a few years before moving to International Falls in 1950. In 1972 they built the Woodland Inn in Ray, Minnesota. They operated the restaurant and bar until 1996 with Anna being the cook and manager.

She was the most wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family. Having been raised in Italy during the war, she was often hungry, so it was important that her family always had enough to eat. She was a fantastic cook and loved cooking and feeding her family and friends.

Her life was filled with kindness, love and compassion to all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.

She raised her 8 children and also took in a number of her grandchildren.

As her granddaughter said: From the Woodland Inn to Florida – Gran you lit up our world with your generous heart and bright red hair. We love you and will always miss you!

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Louis Edward Nolin.Anna is survived by Vincent and Pam Nolin of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Anthony and Patti Nolin, Palmer, Alaska; Patrick and Irma Nolin, Fairbanks, Alaska; John and DiAnna Nolin, Palmer, Alaska; Anna Maria Hausdorf, Seminole, Florida; Angela and Roger Johnson, Fairbault, Minnesota ; Judy Iverson, International Falls, Minnesota and Patricia Edington, Mound, Minnesota. 25 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great- great- grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the funeral home. Anna will be laid to rest next to her husband, Louis at Garden Sanctuary Cemetery following the service.
