

VITA, Christine, 56, of Largo, Florida, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015 peacefully at home under the care of hospice and her loving family. She was born August 20, 1959 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Carmine and Josephine (Catalano) Cataldo. She moved to Florida in 1983 from her native Boston. Christine was a customer service representative for Delta Airlines at Tampa International Airport. During Christine’s eleven year battle with cancer, she became an advocate and counselor to other cancer patients. She was preceded in death by her father, Carmine Cataldo. Survivors include her husband, Richard J.; daughters, Jessica Cataldo, Michele Palmer, and her husband Sean, and Danielle Vita; her mother, Josephine Cataldo; a brother, Nunzio (Susan) Cataldo; a sister, Conchetta (Frank) Palmisano; and grandchildren, Yoni Arias, Brent, Austin, Carter, Madelynn, Landon Palmer, and Nicholas Vita-Simmons; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Largo, Florida. Inurnment will follow the Mass at Garden Sanctuary Cemetery in Seminole, Florida. A reception will follow the services at Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Operation Cold Turkey, 2843 54th Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33710. Operation Cold Turkey is a charity that helps to provide Thanksgiving Day meals for the less fortunate in our area.
