

Donald J. Papievis (Pappy), age 85 of Seminole, FL. died peacefully surrounded by family on July 12, 2017 at Casa Celeste, Seminole, FL. Mr. Papievis was a long time resident of Cicero/Berwyn, a Chicago, IL western suburb. After high school he attended Morton Junior College for 2 years. He then served as a Radio Operator in the U.S. Navy from 1951 – 1955 aboard the USS Randolph Aircraft Carrier during the Korean War. He was retired from Acme/Bordon Chemical Company in Forest Park, IL after 23 years working as a Senior Lab Technician. After his retirement, Donald and his wife became full-time residents in Florida so he could fulfill his dream and play golf year round. He was known to all at the golf courses as “Pappy”. He also worked as a Starter/Ranger at the Bayou Golf & Country Club for 11 years while also volunteering as a Greens Marshall for the TBC Senior golf tournaments in Lutz, FL. He was a member of Chapel on the Hill UCC Church in Seminole and served as an usher and volunteer for the food pantry.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Priscilla, her children, Dorothy Lamb (Steve), Lori Dennis (Louis), Koreen Tower (Robert), 7 grandchildren, Dawn Palmer, Jason Vavrik, Brian Lamb, Stephanie Mallord and Susannah Lamb (preceded) in death, Daniel Ferencak, Nicholas Tower, and 8 great grandchildren, and his brother, Jerome (MaryAnn) of Downers Grove, IL and his sister, Kathleen Di Iorio (Peter) of Barrington, IL and many nieces & nephews.

Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Chapel on the Hill UCC, 12601 Park Blvd N, Seminole, FL 33776.
