Janet Mae Matlack Johnson, 84 of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019. She was born August 15, 1934 in Gloucester, NJ to the late Samuel S. Matlack and Ethel Gongloff Matlack Ochsenreiter. Janet enjoyed helping others in her careers as a medical assistant and a professional legal guardian. She was an active member of First Missionary Church and then Clearview Baptist Church. She was often seen singing with the Meltones, in the choir, and solos. When not singing she was teaching Sunday school, leading Vacation Bible School, and leading the Seniors Ministry. She is survived by her brother Ronald J. Matlack and his wife Hazel of Perkasie, Pennsylvania.
She was mother to five children, son, David H. Johnson of Alabama, her daughter, Susan C. Johnson, her son, Richard A. Johnson and his wife Cindy of St. Petersburg, FL, her daughter, Donna S. Johnson, and her son, Allen S. Johnson and his wife Tracy of Largo, FL. She is survived by seven grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold S. Johnson, her brothers, John S. Matlack (Jack) and Samuel E. Matlack (Earl), her daughters, Susan C. Johnson and Donna S. Johnson.
A memorial service will be held July 12, 2019 at 11:00 am at Grace Christian Fellowship, 901 Ridge Rd SW, Largo, FL 33770. A time of fellowship will follow the memorial service.
