5/7/1931 - 4/27/2015
Vibrant, active, and enjoying life, until the very end, Jean Sandrowicz passed away peacefully among family, on April 27, 2015. As she often said, her parts were just wearing out, and she was grateful that she had gotten her money’s worth out of her pacemaker, so it was time to go. The daughter of Gordon and Agnes Collom, she was born, in Chestnut Hill PA. She lived most of her life in Montgomery County PA and then retired to Seminole FL in 1996. A child of the great depression, she was satisfied to live simply, and yet had great grace and elegance.
Predeceased by her parents; her husband, Ed Sandrowicz, whom she was married to from 1965 until his death in 1989; and her brother Jerry Collom, of Lansdale PA. Survived by Barry Reitz, her partner since 1992; her two daughters, Lin Erhardt, of Boulder CO and Debbie Erhardt (Roger Monk), of Largo FL; granddaughter Sherry Wynne (Alec), great grandchildren: Alexis, Braxton, and Mia Wynne, of Castle Pines CO; and sister-in-law Agnes Collom Jones and her children and their families.
Jean had a passion for caring for others, as well as for building and remodeling. She did day care in her home, throughout the 60’s; and then, as a life-long learner, studied acupressure, nutrition, and massage therapy, which lead to working with Dr. Reiff, in Lansdale for many years. She continued in private practice until 1996. During ‘retirement’, she enjoyed remodeling two mobile homes, a condo, and her summer retreat in Pennsylvania. She also continued to do home care for friends in Florida.
Jean was known for her love, compassion, and willingness to always lend a hand. She will be remembered for her caring kindness, her generosity, the radiance within her heart that touched so many, and her capacity to create beauty wherever she went. She had a spontaneous smile and so loved to laugh. She was delighted to be baptized in the Gulf, in 2008. She served on the Board of Directors for Seminole Gardens for three years. She got to fulfill her bucket list of taking a helicopter ride, an Amtrak train trip, swimming with the dolphins, and having great visits with her granddaughter and family.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held under her ‘treehouse,’ behind 8125 112th Street #204, Seminole, on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 10:00am.
