He was born in Andrews, SC to Joe Hooks Sr. and Margaret (Darby) Hooks on December 22, 1947. He attended school in Philadelphia, PA at Benjamin Franklin High School. There is where he developed his love for boxing and cars. He moved to Miami and worked many years as a construction worker. Then, he welcomed his 2 sons, Demetrius Hooks and Dominique Allen.
He was a beloved father, son, brother, and uncle. He lived life to the fullest and was giving to others.
He is survived by his son Dominique Allen; his grandchildren, Destiny Hooks and Demetrius Hooks Jr; his sisters, Mattie Simmons, Queen Elder, Josephine Walton, and Willie Mae Hooks; his brother, Issac Hooks; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Demetrius Hooks, his parents Joe and Margaret Hooks, and his brother Solomon Hooks. A visitation will be held, Saturday, March 16th, 2024 from 11am - 12:00pm, Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home, 7920 131st Street N., Seminole, FL 33776. A funeral service will follow at 12pm. Joe will be laid to rest at Garden Sanctuary Cemetery in Seminole, FL.
