Everyone who knew my dad knew him as Jack. He was born in Willow Springs Illinois and grew up and lived in the same house with his parents and siblings until 1960 when he was offered a job with Honeywell. He married and immediately moved to Florida and worked for Honeywell for more than 40 years. He played a huge role as an electrical engineer, and his most notable project was working on the Trident missile.

He worked hard to provide for his family, but he also fully immersed himself in Florida living. He enjoyed golfing and swimming, but his greatest love was tending to his rosebushes. He had every color and variety of roses you could imagine! I will never forget that beautiful smell of fresh roses!

My dad was true to his Catholic faith all his life. He dedicated his service as a sacristan at Blessed Sacrament in Seminole, as well as Saint Jerome in Largo, where he ran the homeless ministry for years. In  2016 he was the recipient of the St. Jude the Apostle medal for his service in that ministry. 

My father is in the presence of angels where he will adore our Almighty Father forever! I love you Dad!

My fondest memory of Mr. Coombes will always be admiring the special care he took when tending to his rose garden. He was quite the gardener and I can only imagine he is doing the very same in God’s garden. May you find comfort and peace in the knowledge that he is celebrating eternal life in  Christ Jesus.
