Katherine M. Akins

Kathy was born March 17th, 1944 in Washington DC to John and Mattie Anderson. She was married on September 28, 1963 to Jon Patrick Malone in Washington DC. They moved to Florida in 1974.

After a brief tenure in the office at Seminole Middle School, she worked as a supervisor at Bay Pines VA for over forty years. Before her career, Kathy was dedicated to school and neighborhood functions and activities through baking, sewing, and crafting. Apart from being a loving mother and grandmother, she was known as an avid shopper and master bargainer. However, her greatest passion in life was boarding a ship to cruise the world.

After raising a family throughout their loving and devoted 45 year marriage, Jon sadly passed in 2008. Then, in 2019, she met and remarried the second love of her life, Tony Akins. After years of selfless dedication to her family, Kathy and Tony then embarked on a new life filled with love and adventure, traveling the world and cherishing every moment together.

Kathy was a member of New Testament Baptist Church in Largo, FL.

Kathy is survived by her husband Tony Akins, son Shawn Malone (Missi), daughter Jennifer Mardis (Jay), grandchildren Mckinnley Eisele (Charles), Emili Malone, Aubreigh Mardis, Brodie Mardis, great grandson CJ Eisele, step children Tony Akins Jr. (Leslie), Teresa Gill (John), Gerald Akins, step grandchildren Jessica Bryan, Savanna Lagasse, Veronica Stepp, Emily Akins, Ian Campbell, and step great grandchildren Dixie Bryant, and Loretta Bryant.
