Laura Beverly Stockburger, our beloved great-great-grandmother, entered eternal rest in Asheville, North Carolina, on February 14, 2026, just weeks before her ninety-ninth birthday.
Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Rufus and Iona (Myers) Turpin amid the Great Depression’s lean shadow, she was the middle of twelve children and learned early the fierce tenderness of family, the stubborn spark of hope, and the quiet holiness of ordinary days shared.
On the World War II home front, she shaped ball bearings for distant victory and kindness for those near; her optimism remained a small, unquenchable flame.
A faithful Christian, she worshiped at Indian Rocks Christian Church in Largo, Florida, and later at Biltmore Baptist Church in Asheville. Faith was her anchor and her light.
She made homes in Florida, Ohio, and the Carolina mountains, each one warmed by her gentle, resilient presence.
To our family, she was the still center: eyes that truly saw us, a voice that lifted us, love that held without condition. Every heart near her felt known, treasured, and quietly possible.
She endured the long grief of losing her husband and three sons, yet sorrow only deepened her mercy. She never stopped giving light.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, her cherished sister, and a wide, living lineage of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each carrying her quiet radiance forward.
Preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Iona Turpin; her husband; and her three sons. We reach for arms no longer there, listen for a voice gone silent. Tears fall, grief and gratitude entwined, for the miracle of being so wholly loved by her.
Laura Beverly Stockburger, your music plays on in our blood. We bear your hope through the dusk. We carry your love like breath. We love you beyond words, beyond time, and we will hold you in our hearts until the morning we are gathered again in heaven, safe once more in your keeping.
A graveside service will be held at Garden Sanctuary Cemetery in Seminole, Florida, on March 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
