She was born December 31, 1931 in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of Earl B. Syler and Carrie K. (Wyatt) Syler. Jean worked in the Swanton, Ohio school system before moving to Florida. She moved to Florida from Akron, Ohio in 1961 with her former husband William "Bill" Sorrick and was a stay at home Mom. Jean was a member and Past President of the American Legion Post 252 Auxiliary and a member of the 8/40 Society.
Jean is predeceased by her parents, Earl and Carrie Syler; Brother, William "Bill" Syler; former husband, William "Bill" Sorrick.
Jean is survived by her son, William "Bill" A. Sorrick, and his wife, Michele; daughter, Denise A. Martin and her husband, Joe, three grandchildren, Ashley, Tiffany and Christopher, and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Jean's family would like the thank the private caregivers that cared for their Mom; Carmella, Gloria and Kati; and the staff, CNAs, nurses, and private nurse, Aixa, at Arden Court, Seminole, Florida.
Visitation will be from 12-1pm Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home. A funeral service in honor of Jean will begin at 1pm, and burial will follow at Garden Sanctuary Cemetery.
