94, of Seminole, Florida, formerly of Morea Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord November 12, 2019 at Morton Plant Hospital Hospice in Clearwater, Florida. She was married to Joseph C. Burda for 67 years until his passing in 2014.
She was born in Barnsville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Walter and Mary (Shunski) Simco. She graduated from Mahanoy Township High School. After High School, Mary worked for the FBI in Washington DC during World War II. After the war, she moved back to Pennsylvania where she met her husband, Joseph, getting married and starting a family. In addition to raising a family, she worked at various garment factories in the area. Upon retirement in 1990, Mary and her husband Joseph, moved to Florida.
Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook, sew, a good novel and completing jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She was very proud to be the “Sharpest Tack” at the Cabot Cove Assisted Living Facility. She will be remembered as a lovely lady with an infectious smile.
She was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Largo, Florida.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Cherylann George, and her husband Gregory of Myrtle Beach SC; a son, Robert J. Burda, his wife Christy of Largo FL and their two children Casey of Chicago IL and Robert a student at the University of Central Florida, her sister Margaret Doran of Virginia Beach VA and brother Stephen Simco of Harrisburg PA. She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph M. Burda.
The family requests that donations be made in memory of Mary to the American Heart Association.
