David, Mary Elizabeth, 92 of Seminole passed away quietly and peacefully on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, surrounded by her family after a month’s long battle with liver disease. Mary’s life will be celebrated with a viewing at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Seminole at 10 am on Saturday, January 19, 2019 followed by a funeral mass at 11 am. Burial will follow in Garden Sanctuary Cemetery, Seminole.
Mary leaves behind a wonderful legacy including her three sons, Paul and his wife Marcia of Crossville, TN, George and his wife Linda of Bluffton, SC and Charles and his wife Joanie of Conyers, GA. Mary was blessed with nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren…and while all the grand and great
grand-children live all around the county, and a few in the U.K., they all cherish her memory.
After 50 years of marriage, Mary lost her beloved husband, George, in July 1997. Despite her loss, Mary carried on and fashioned a robust social, community and religious life. She was very active in the Blessed Sacrament parish and was highly involved in the Ave Maria Guild. Outside of the parish, Mary also was President of the local AARP chapter and was the Board President of her building in the Seminole Gardens apartment complex.
But wait, there’s more...weekly Hand and Foot card games with “the girls”, Sunday afternoon dominoes, more than a few bingo games, seemingly endless lunches and an “occasional” visit to the Hard Rock casino filled out her very full social calendar. She set a wonderful example for her family and friends of how to live a full and purposeful live, and we are all grateful to have shared a piece of that life with her.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Mary’s name to the Ave Maria Guild at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church,11565 66th Ave N, Seminole, FL33772.
Arrangements were held under the direction of Garden Sanctuary funeral Home, 7950 131st Avenue N., Seminole, FL 33776\727-391-0121.
